Experimental Facilities
Birck Nanotechnology Center provides several thermal characterization facilities for devices and materials. Optical thermal imaging includes transient thermoreflectance imaging, time domain thermoreflectance, and IR imaging. These equipment is also applicable to material thermal conductivity characterization by identify the thermal diffusivity. General purpose dimension characterization of materials, such as thinfilms available for high precision measurement for determining high quality thermal property characterization. In addition, lab spaces in Birck is available for wide variety of academic- industrial collaborations, where various gas, water, power supplies are ready for all lab spaces.
Computational Resources
Nanohub.org is an internet resource portal open for public, especially for whom needs a breakthrough in material for thermal management, based on nanotechnology. Series of lectures, learning module and online courses, tutorials, publications, and simulation software tools are available on the Website. Simulations run on the Web access and are executed remotely on tera-grid clusters across the network of partners in US, so that no end user computational resources are required. Capabilities
Equipment for Thermal characterization of devices and materials is available to access with training. The Class 1 cleanroom nanofabrication fab is also available to access, where wide variety of fabrication equipment and machine are in place. Nanotechnology allows to create material properties for the development of new thermal interfaces and novel thermal actuator and sensors. All accessible equipment is affiliated with interdisciplinary faculties and research groups and accessible for your own research or any level of collaboration.
